During Treatment (left): A cleaning window revealed the true palette beneath the discolored varnish. During Treatment: (center) Removing all of the varnish revealed old oil retouches that had darkened and no longer matched the cleaned painting. After Treatment (right): The retouches were removed and the painting was revarnished and inpainted with conservation colors. | |
