On June 17, 2005, two conservators from Parma Conservation examined the Schomer Lichtner mural in the M&I Bank at 3536 West Fond du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was determined that the mural was executed on cotton duck that had been adhered to a prepared wall with a starch-based adhesive. The painted surface itself had accumulated a layer of superficial surface grime and some water stains, but otherwise it was deemed to be in excellent condition. As the bank was then closed for renovations, Parma cleaned and removed the mural at the request of the Kohler Foundation. | |
