In 1985, while changes and remodeling efforts were occuring at the post office, a Will Rogers Memorial Museums Commission member rescued the mural from destruction. The mural was deposited in the archives of the Will Rogers Memorial Museums for safekeeping. It had remained in the vault of the museum until August 9, 2004. On that date, Parma Conservation arrived in Claremore to personally transport the mural to the laboratory for testing, analysis and conservation. An agreement was reached to place the conserved mural on the wall of the Claremore Post Office for permanent exhibition, where it was rededicated in November, to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Will Roger's birth. | |
